LAURA PASUT

For over 15 years, Laura has been supporting, guiding and empowering immigrants and refugee adults and youth to improve their education, build technical and social-emotional skills and develop their careers. While at Vancouver School Board Adult Education, she worked as an Instructional Assistant and Outreach Worker supporting adult learners to complete high school graduation and pre-requisites for post secondary education. While at Immigrant Services Society of BC, she worked as a Case Manager, Employer Relations Specialist, Facilitator and Assistant Manager in a variety of Career Services programs that provided skills training and job search assistance to newcomers. Laura is now excited to have taken on a role within a new national program at Neil Squire Society, aiming to build the capacity of youth with disabilities to enter the manufacturing industry.

Laura is a firm believer and advocate for the power of education, personal development and leadership training, and mentorship in creating a better world for all. Everyone (and especially youth) deserves access to educational opportunities to grow into all that they can be.

She is honoured to be a member of the RISE Scholarship Selection Committee and through this committee, being able to provide immigrant and refugee youth the financial means and wrap around support to gain the education they value and an important step towards achieving their career dreams.
