“…Racism is taught. Nobody is born with it.” – Senator Poy is the first Canadian of Asian descent appointed to the Senate of Canada. She is an entrepreneur, author, historian, and fashion designer. She was integral in establishing May as Asian Heritage Month in Canada.
The theme for Asian Heritage Month 2021 is “Recognition, Resilience, and Resolve”. Earlier this month, we reached out to our Luminaries asking them to share their favourite resources that highlight the experience of people of Asian descent in Canada and their contributions to the community.
From these submissions, we created a catalogue of books, films, and other educational resources. This list is by no means exhaustive and we look forward to adding to it throughout the year! Let us celebrate the incredible diversity that is our strength and be resolute in our stand against all forms of anti-Asian racism and discrimination.
