The Blackwater Dean Family Indigenous Award in Mining

This Award recognizes and supports Indigenous students pursuing studies in mining-related fields and to celebrate the next generation of Indigenous leaders in British Columbia.  This Award will support up to five students in each of the 2027, 2028 and 2029 Beedie Luminaries Cohorts and will include mentorship support from members of Artemis Gold and/or Blackwater Mine employees and/or their network.  It will also include a paid internship placement, as available, based on the area of interest.

This Award is granted to self-identified Indigenous students within the Beedie Luminaries’ SHINE, BUILD, and SPARK programs who are pursuing degrees or accreditation in the following fields of study: 

  • Mining or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Geology
  • Mineral Processing
  • Metallurgy
  • Surveying
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Economics and Management (relevant to mining sustainability)
