We give people what they need for a brighter future.

The SHINE (Soaring Higher IN Education) scholarship helps remove financial barriers to higher education and provides wrap-around support for resilient high-school graduates. SHINE supports students to rise above their circumstances and achieve their dreams.

  • Up to $44,000 per student / 4-year undergraduate degree
  • Up to $22,000 per student / 2-year college diploma/certificate
  • Student Success Program

  • Summer Paid Internship Opportunities

Eligibility
Requirements

To be considered for the program you must meet the basic eligibility requirements:

RESIDENCY

Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and reside in British Columbia (i.e., have lived in the province for the previous 6 consecutive months).

APTITUDE

Currently be in Grade 12 and have a minimum grade average of 75% in the most recently completed school year.

INTENT

Plan to be a full-time student and use the funding for post-secondary education.

INSTITUTION

Apply to one of the twenty-five BC post-secondary institutions.

FINANCIAL ADVERSITY

Demonstrate your and/or your family's financial adversity, and how it has affected you.

ENGAGEMENT

Receive a letter of reference from your secondary school.

How It Works

  • PHASE ONE

    November - December

    Applicants can apply through our secure, online site.

  • PHASE TWO

    January – April

    Select

    Applications will be evaluated by the selection committee. Select applicants may be invited for interviews.

  • PHASE THREE

    May

    Award

    SHINE Cohort is announced.
