Education has the power to change lives, but for too many bright, driven students, cost gets in the way of pursuing it. We believe finances shouldn't decide who gets to go further. That's why we're here.
Applications open November 2nd at 1PM (PST). Please review the 2027 Program Guidelines prior to starting your application.
Carol Martina retired from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in 2025 after a career of building high school partnerships and trades dual credit pathways. Her work created opportunities for students to explore post-secondary education and future careers.
Carol holds an English degree from York University and a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from BCIT. At age 47, she returned to BCIT to pursue an Office Administrator with Technology Certificate — a decision that led to a 20-year career at the institution. Her own path back to education shaped her belief in the power of lifelong learning to open doors, build confidence, and help people discover new possibilities.
In 2022, she received BCIT’s Employee Excellence Award for her collaborative contributions and leadership, and in 2025 she was recognized with the Honorary Life Member Award from the Career Education Society of BC (CES).
Carol remains passionate about creating opportunities for students and building partnerships. She is honoured to be part of the Build Selection Committee and looks forward to supporting the next generation of BC students.
