The Ashcroft-Cache Creek Journal Repost:Cache Creek student Skylar Hook’s hard work pays off
THE ASHCROFT-CACHE CREEK JOURNAL — A recent graduate from Desert Sands Community School in Ashcroft is getting a good start to her post-secondary education, thanks to a $44,000 scholarship from Beedie Luminaries.
Skylar Hook, who graduated in June of this year, is one of 310 students around the province to receive a Beedie Luminaries scholarship, and is from just north of Cache Creek: the smallest community represented among this year’s recipients.
The scholarship also comes with support in the form of services designed to help students thrive, including mentorship, student success advising, workshops, and peer support. Since 2018, Beedie Luminaries — a registered foundation and non-profit society — has awarded more than $59 million in scholarships to more than 1,300 students.
