Chakriya Rodkhong is a Health Science student at SFU who is passionate about using her knowledge to improve her own health and help others. Guided by the belief that “If you believe in yourself, anything is possible,” she strives to live each day to its fullest. Inspired by her mother’s strength, independence, and work ethic, Chakriya values mentorship and support within the Beedie Luminaries community.
What is your field of study and why does it interest you?
Health Science because I can use the knowledge learned in my daily life for improving my health and my family health, as well as I can use my degree to help others.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
If you believe in yourself, anything is possible.
What would you name the autobiography of your life?
I’m an oyster in the vast oceans.
Do you have a motto or personal mantra?
Live this day as if it is your last.
What was the last experience that made you a better person?
When my beloved uncle passed away because I realized that life is shorter than what I expected, that’s why I live each day like my last. The future is obscure, but you can make a good future by doing good today.
What is something you learned in the last week?
Always ask question if you are unsure.
What’s the most important trend you see today?
Get vaccinated.
Who inspires you and why?
My mother because she is strong, confident, good with money and hard working. She motivates me to be a better person by being independent and careful with money.
What would people be surprised to find out about you?
I’m a shower singer.
