“Hard work always pays off.” Meet Beedie Luminary Fatima Mushtaq.

What is your field of study and why does it interest you? 

I am studying engineering at the University of British Columbia because it allows me to use problem solving and creativity to contribute to the advancement of society.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? 

Live as if you were to die tomorrow.

Do you have a motto or personal mantra?

There’s always something to be grateful for.

What was the last experience that made you a better person?

First year of university.  It was brutal but I learned how to prioritize and manage my time more efficiently.

What is something you learned in the last week?

Hard work always pays off.

What’s the coolest (or most important) trend you see today?

Not exactly a trend but more and more people are becoming environmentally conscious and that’s great to see.

Who inspires you and why?

My dad because of his wisdom, selflessness, and commitment to helping others.

What would people be surprised to find out about you?

I am the oldest of 4 siblings.

What is your favourite thing about being a part of Beedie Luminaries?

The strong community and support from everyone in the Beedie family.
